CSR2
Client: NaturalMotion
2015-2016
Infinite Continues were brought on board to assist the in-house UI talent at NaturalMotion for 7 months on quality-of-life improvements and new features for their flagship title, CSR2.
Whilst completing the assigned tasks, we also pitched a number of ideas with a UI-centric focus in mind, the biggest being the My Career side panel that is highlighted in the galleries below.
My Career Tab
A full-fledged visualisation of an expanded My Career Tab to be accessible across the game, to replace the more basic achievement system already in place. A simple dropdown filter sorts through different views. Intended to house achievements, player statistics, events and challenges all in one user-friendly area, using a system already baked into the game.
Own The Streets
A meta-game intended to drive players towards engaging with their crews, the Own The Streets game mode was a chance to explore some information and map design within the CSR2 visual language guidelines.
Shown below are a number of various design routes sketched out for the feature, with the final design shown at bottom.
Garage HUD Refresh & Animation Test
Part of an exploration into a refresh of the Garage HUD, these mocks and video detail how a player might access dropdown menus from two buttons anchored bottom-left and bottom-right for easy tapping access.
Crew Battle Screens
Mockups of visually punchy splash screens intended to hype up battles with two of CSR2’s campaign crews - the Nu Fangz and the Gold Rushers.
Fusion
This shows exploration of a refresh to the Fusion functionality in the game, where players can fuse materials and parts to major areas of their selected car (i.e. the engine). Below you can see a range of options explored for this mechanic, with final route and animation test displayed at the bottom.
End Of Race Pre-Vis Animations
Part of a deeper exploration into animating the UI, these AfterEffects explorations incorporated our latest designs for the Race Results flows, and showed how we thought the UI transitions should work.
